Murderer of the Month #6: JR - 12-year old Canadian girl

JR was only 12 years old when she helped her 23-year-old boyfriend knife her family to death in the infamous goth killings in Medicine Hat, Canada. (The Richardson family murders)

It was her who had pressured and demanded the killings.
It was her who knifed her 8-year-old brother - her boyfriend never touched him.

She was diagnosed as sociopathic, but because Canadian law demands that offenders that young get the minimum sentence possible, she only got 10 years: 2 were already served, 4 were in an expensive mental care facility, and 4 are actually out (supervised...she's just on probation pretty much).


Anyway, she's been out since she was 18 - she's already well into her 20s.


The age of criminal responsibility in Canada is 12, so if she had done this 6 months earlier, she would have only gotten probation.

Her boyfriend was never charged for having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old. He did propose marriage while they were awaiting trial, and she had accepted... he's still in jail though.

Murderer of the Month #5: Andrei Chikatilo

Andrei Chikatilo - The Butcher of Rostov

                                           
     Born on; 16 October 1936 - 14 February 1994.  Andrei Romanovich Chikatilo; also known as "The Red Ripper" was active between 1978 - 1990 in the Russian, Ukrainian, and Uzbek regions.  He mutilated and brutally murdered 52 people, mostly children, and possibly more that were claimed, but never confirmed.


     Born in the village of Yabluchne, Ukraine during a famine and growing up in the grips of forced collectivization of agriculture plagued Andrei's childhood with poverty and starvation.  The family often resorted to "grass and leaves to stave off starvation.
     Andrei was a model student and a hard-line communist.  Despite his success as a student, he found himself the odd-man out of regular social interaction.  As he developed

Murderer of the Month: The Blood Countess

Countess Elizabeth Bathory

Countess Bathory was one of the most prolific murderers in history, with estimates as high as over 600 victims. She believed the blood of virgins gave her youth.

 (There are theories that she may have been iron deficient, so it would make sense that drinking blood might actually make her feel and look better in a real way.)

Her torturous and murderous ways only came to an end when she decided she needed nobler blood than the peasants she had always used, but well-bred girls were quickly noticed as missing, and she was apprehended.

Her punishment was that she was walled into a tower until her death.

Dennis Raider was active as a serial killer for over 30 years before capture.

He was known as the BTK Killer from the taunting letters he would send to police and newspapers.

He was a Boy Scout leader who actually left a meeting to kill the church deacon, and returned to the meeting as though nothing had happened. On their campouts he would go far into the woods late at night, lay himself in a grave, and tie himself up to perform autoerotic asphyxiation acts while his camera took photos. There was one incident where he couldn't untie himself by morning, and his troop had to free him.
